Minimum Unit PricingUpdated 2 days ago

What is Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP)?

MUP is a legal requirement in Scotland that sets a minimum price per unit of alcohol. It ensures alcoholic drinks cannot be sold below a certain price.

Why are prices different for customers in Scotland?

Scottish law requires all alcoholic products to be priced according to MUP. Prices for customers in Scotland may differ from those in the rest of the UK.

How do you calculate the MUP for a product?

MUP is based on 50p per unit of alcohol.
Example:
Units = (ABV × volume in litres).
Price = units × £0.50.

Why do I have to confirm my location before checking out?

We need to confirm this so we can apply the legally required MUP pricing to your order.

I live in Scotland but want to deliver to an address outside Scotland - what price applies?

MUP is applied based on the delivery address, not where you live. If the delivery address is in Scotland, MUP pricing applies.

I live in England but want to deliver to Scotland - what price applies?

If the delivery address is in Scotland, MUP pricing will be applied.

Why does the price change when I enter a Scottish postcode?

The system identifies Scottish delivery addresses and updates prices to meet MUP requirements by law.

Are discounts still available for Scottish customers?

Discounts can still be applied, but the final price cannot drop below the legal minimum unit price.

Why can’t I use my discount code on certain products?

If the discount would reduce the price below the MUP threshold, the system will prevent the discount from being applied.

Does MUP apply to alcohol-free products?

No. Alcohol-free products below 0.5% ABV are not subject to MUP.

Will delivery costs change because of MUP?

No. MUP only affects the product price, not delivery charges.

Can I check out without entering my postcode?

No. We need your delivery location to ensure compliance with MUP before checkout.
